On Appeals to Non-existent Authorities as Arguments from Analogy

چکیده
Herein, I consider arguments resting on an appeal to a non-existent authority as species of argument from authority, and ultimately show them be reliant analogy in their inferential force. Three sub-types are discussed: authorities yet unborn, no longer living, or incapable ever doing so. In each case it is shown that element arguing required since there can direct evidence any assertions the source. conclusion, suggested such steps employed frequently traditional authority.
